Alexander Shirley is a yet-unlicensed architectural designer from Connecticut, currently living, working, and riding the T in Boston, Massachusetts.

While studying International Business Affairs at American University in Washington DC, he joined the Deloitte Greenhouse as a student fellow designing a prototype urban food production network, then spent two years working in hydroponic agriculture before going back to school. In 2022, he completed the three-year program at the University of Southern California with a Masters in Architecture and Certificate in Heritage Conservation.

Deeply invested in ideas of regenerative architecture and community-oriented design, Alex seeks to work and learn intensively with the people and places that he is designing for, and to integrate ecological connection and environmental stewardship into our human habitats.

When not taking to the forests or mountains, Alex is happy to explore as many towns and cities on foot as possible, seeking interesting design, planning, and art until running into the next hole-in-the-wall for a bite. Whenever possible, he gets there by train.
