Located on a former industrial site, Light Well seeks to knit two sides of the neighborhood back together using courtyards, gateways, and a community marketplace to create dynamic paths between a historic high school campus and an adjacent recreation center.

Front pedestrian entrance between outpatient clinic and community marketplace. Leads to main courtyard and pass-through to recreation center.

INVITING THE SUN

A network of courtyards, green roofs, curtain walls, and skylights provides a layered, multi-faceted landscape for community residents, staff, and visitors alike. Southern California’s abundant sunshine is thus introduced into each program, enabling generous daylighting and natural orientation, as well as healthful connections to nature.

WHOLE COMMUNITY HEALTH

A place for wellness and community as well as supported living, the project includes:

78 Lifelong Living residential units; 18 intensive memory care units divided between two modules; a full outpatient clinic including cardiology and radiology wings; physical therapy and psychiatric clinics; health consultation modules for the general public; a pharmacy; an adult day care facility; a public market hall on its south side; and a collection of diverse spaces for resident interests and events.
